Not every child grows up to be confident and comfortable around other people. In most cases, a child may need a bit of coaxing to, as it were, get out of her shell. You may have noticed your child’s manner whenever your friends come to visit with their own kids. Perhaps she initially comes to the door to meet them since you’ve taught her to be polite. Maybe she’ll even stick around while you tell stories about this amusing thing that she did during a shopping trip. But as soon your friends’ kids start to take over, you observe your child slowly backing away, slithering out of sight.
