Children, young and vibrant treasures that they are, are always filled with life. They express their minds and feelings through actions. Parents could tell their children’s emotions by the way they move or the way they act. This is exactly the reason why engaging children in performing arts such as dance lessons and singing lessons is vital in their development.
Lessons for dance for kids focus on developing a child’s mental, physical, social and emotional well-being. Dance stimulates the little one’s mental processes; it kindles a child’s creativity through expression of different kinds of body movements.
It builds a child’s social skills; he learns to communicate to others. He gets to realize the importance of being able to express his ideas and to listen to others who express their minds, as well. Later on, he gets to discover how to blend these ideas together in order to form something: in this case, dance movements and routines that are truly out of the ordinary.
Nurturing a kid’s emotional development is also one benefit of performing arts. He develops his self-confidence and independence. He recognizes that he is able to do great things by himself, and that success is possible as long as he does his best.
There are a variety of dance lessons a child could learn in a dance school. Break dancing, hip-hop and street dancing are dances that have gained popularity among young children and the young adults. Break dancing, for example, involves four elements that form breaking: toprock, downrock, power moves, and freezes.
Toprock are the dance moves performed on a standing position. Downrock is performed on the floor with the hands supporting the dances as much as the feet. Power moves are the acrobatic moves. Lastly, freezes are stylish poses that require a dancer to suspend his body in the air using upper-body strength.
While ballet strikes the interest of young girls, it is also possible for boys to learn this art of dancing. It involves strength, flexibility and alertness. Ballet dancers are able to run, kick, and jump onstage without actually bumping into each other because of their developed kinesthetic sense.
Jazz is also a form of dance that is often influenced by other dances such as hip-hop, ballet and lyrical. It includes various techniques such as center control, spotting and pointing.
Center control means considering the center of balance as the point from which movements originate. Spotting is the ability to keep balance and control while performing turns without getting very dizzy. Pointing is the term used when dancers stretch their ankles and point their toes.
These are just some form of dances children can learn in order to make their childhood interesting and fruitful.
